Centara set to open three more hotels in Laos in 2020

Centara, Thailand’s leading hospitality group led by Suthikiati Chirathivat, Chairman of the Board (4th from right), has inked a management MOU with Asia Investment, Development & Construction Sole Co., Ltd (AIDC), a well-established investment and construction company in Laos. The agreement paves the way for Centara to enter into management agreements for three hotels in Laos with a combined total of 214 keys in capital city Vientiane and historic destination Luang Prabang.Suthikiati Chirathivat, Centara’s Chairman of the Board said: “This signing ceremony demonstrates our commitment to expansion in Asia as we continue to develop our portfolio internationally. ONYX Hospitality Group announces its second Amari property in Laos with Amari Vientiane

ONYX Hospitality Group, one of the region’s leading hotel management companies, has a management agreement with Laos-based Asia Investment, Development & Construction Sole Co, Ltd. (AIDC), to develop a new-build Amari hotel in the city center of Vientiane, the capital city of Laos.

Ratch-Lao buys stake in Saendin Water Supply Project

On 19th December 2018, Mr.Sahachthorn Putthong, Managing Director of Ratch-Lao Service Co., Ltd., and Mr.Pheutsapha Phoummasak, President of Asia Investment, Development and Construction Sole Co., Ltd. (AIDC) signed a share purchase and shareholder agreement for Saendin Water Supply Project.

Under this agreement, Ratch-Lao Service Co., Ltd. purchased 4.8 million shares accounted for 40 percent of total share in Asia Water Sole Co., Ltd.

Halcom signs strategic partnership with AIF Group

The signing ceremony, Ambassador Thongsavanh Phomvihane highly appreciated the collaboration between the two companies, Halcom Vietnam JSC and Asia Investment Financial Group Limited (AIF). The Ambassador informed that this is the first collaboration project in renewable energy sector between Laos and Vietnam.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyễn Phi Long – Vice Chairman of Bình Định PPC was happy to see that AIDC is investing in 1 project in Bình Định. This is a success in development of economic cooperation between the two countries.

Phương Mai 3 Wind Farm is invested by Halcom Vietnam JSC; operated by the project enterprise Central Wind Power JSC (CWP) in Nhơn Hội economic zone, Bình Định province. The Wind Farm is designed of 6 turbines, with capacity of 3.5 MW each; the total nominated capacity is 21 MW; Power generation is 77.945 million kWh/year.

 “This first project helps us to improve our management capacity and gain our confidence in developing a series of upcoming projects. As planned for the next 3 years, we will develop and put into operation the wind and solar power projects with total capacity of about 300 MW. In addition, we have been developing more projects on water supply and drainage and solid waste treatment with total investment of tens of thousands of billions of VND.”- Mr. Nguyễn Quang Huân stated in his speech.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Pheutsapha Phoummasack – President of AIDC said that:  AIF and AIDC is one of the leading firms in Laos PDR, investing in many sectors such as: hydro-power, renewable energy, infrastructure, real estate, banking, lottery, etc. Apart from doing business in Laos, the group also invest in Thailand and Cambodia. And for Phương Mai 3 Wind Farm, we are confident that this project will be successful and the collaboration between the two enterprises will be an important milestone and open further collaboration in larger scale projects.

“One Central Tower” Groundbreaking Ceremony in Phnom Penh

Vientiane authorities have authorized the Vientiane Expressway Number 1 Sole Company Ltd to build the Vientiane Expressway No 1 from the Thatluang Marsh Specific Economic Zone to Dongmakkhai over a distance of 15.30 km.  

The agreement for the build-operate-transfer (BOT) concession was signed on March 4 by the Department of Planning and Investment, on behalf of Vientiane authorities and the company.

Director of the Vientiane Planning and Investment Department, Mr Phoukhong Bannavong, said the city is facing increasing traffic congestion and this problem is expected to continue. To ease the situation, authorities in Vientiane have finalized certain projects in their socio-economic development plan. The Vientiane Expressway No 1 is one of these priority projects.

To achieve this goal, the authorities sought quality investors with good financial status to implement the project. They allowed Asia Investment, Development and Construction Sole Co Ltd (AIDC), a domestic firm, and China’s Norinco Company to carry out project surveys and designs. In this regard, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the authorities and the companies on July 12, 2016. They completed their surveys within two years,

The Prime Minister’s Office issued a statement to the Vientiane authorities on February 7, 2019, allowing them to sign a BOT concession agreement with Vientiane Expressway Number 1 Sole Company Ltd.

The authorities said the expressway would benefit the economy and society. The project cost is US$200 million, with a concession period of 50 years. This period can be extended by the developer for 20 years.

The President of AIDC Sole Company, Mr Pheutsapha Phoummasak, said the Vientiane Expressway is a joint venture between his firm and their Chinese counterpart Norinco. The two firms have established the Vientiane Expressway Number 1 Sole Company Ltd. 

Mr Pheutsapha, who is also the Director of the Vientiane Expressway Number 1 Sole Company Ltd, said “In the past, our two firms contributed to developments in many areas of Laos, especially in Vientiane, the capital city. We recently completed the waterpipe installation project. For the expressway project, our company was selected through a bidding process in which many companies participated.”
